We are very pleased to announce that Julie Johnson has been selected to succeed the retiring Lyth Hartz as the President/CEO of MSS.

Julie’s experience, drive, and expertise make her uniquely qualified to lead MSS into the future. Julie has worked for MSS for 28 years, primarily in the role of Vice President of Administration. In that role, Julie has used her in-depth knowledge of MSS’ financial and administrative functions, program services along with her passion for strategic planning and shared leadership, to continually improve the strength of the agency and the services we provide.

MSS provides person-centered services and supports for individuals with disabilities in the Twin Cities Metro area. People come to MSS for many reasons, including receiving help finding and keeping employment, engaging more fully with their community, and learning to express themselves through the creative arts.

“I am thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to lead this wonderful organization,” said Julie. “Our industry is facing significant changes and challenges which gives us the opportunity to adapt and innovate our programs to meet the changing needs of the people we support. MSS is ready and able to do this thanks to the strength of its team of staff.”

Julie is also actively involved in MOHR, a state-wide trade association comprised of more than 110 providers like MSS. Julie began serving her term as the President of MOHR in July 2018. Through her participation with MOHR, Julie has gained extensive knowledge of the many legislative initiatives at the federal, state and local level – an extremely valuable asset for the next President of MSS.

Julie has an educational background in Business Administration and Nonprofit Management. We are fortunate to have a period of transition prior to Lyth’s retirement on November 2, 2018. During this time, Lyth and Julie will work together to ensure a smooth transition for the people we support, their families, our staff, and other stakeholders. Julie has delivered tremendous results for MSS in her previous roles and we are confident MSS will continue to flourish under her leadership. Tom Lyman, MSS Board of Directors Chair
