MSS Artists Have Work Chosen for Gamut Gallery
We are extremely proud to announce that MSS artist Mike Ewaldt and MSS Art Facilitator, Matt Bindert, have each had their work selected for this year’s C4W:2019 Exhibition at the Gamut Gallery in Minneapolis.
The exhibition opens September 12 and lasts through October 12. The opening reception is Thursday, September 12 from 7-10pm. Admission is just $5 and free if you are a member of the Gamut Gallery.
“My mind can’t believe it,” was Mike’s reaction when MSS Art Coordinator, Chloe Russell, told him the exciting news.
We are excited to have both an artist and Art Facilitator from MSS have their work chosen for the exhibition. Of the 722 submissions from 177 artists, only 47 pieces were chosen. “It’s so exciting to have Mike and Matt’s work selected,” Chloe said.
Mike’s work is entitled “Secret Animals”, a concept he invented in which he creates intuitive mixed media pieces and asks the observer to look at the work and consider what animals they can find within the shapes and linework. It is intended to be a private interaction between the observer and the work, as Mike insists the viewer’s thoughts be kept private.
Matt’s work represents social issues expressed through the layering of marks, symbols, patterns, and the building of imagery that draws parallels between the past and the present.
“I’m honored to be included in the exhibition, but I am actually more excited that Mike’s work was selected,” Matt said.
In addition to Thursday’s reception, there are other events scheduled for the month-long exhibition.
