Wage Ranges of Jobs Offered at MSS

MSS utilizes three different methods to pay individuals: piece-rated, performance measured, and minimum wage.

PiecE-Rated Work

On piece-rated jobs, people are paid for each piece they complete. The more pieces a person accurately completes, the more money they will make.

Examples: Folding laundry, shredding paper, crushing cans

Wage range: $.08 per piece completed. Wages could be up to $11.60 per hour, based on productivity

Example: Working at Spectrum

Wage range: $.02 per piece completed. Wages could be up to $28.84 per hour, based on your productivity

Performance Measured Cleaning

For piece rated and performance measured jobs, a prevailing wage survey is conducted by MSS to determine the average wage paid to an experienced worker without disabilities. The survey polls businesses in our area which perform similar job duties for the task at hand such as maids/housekeeping. The average wage is used to determine the Commensurate Wage paid to each individual based on their time study. Time studies are redone and reviewed every 6 months (at minimum) to ensure we are paying people fairly.

Example: Janitorial work

Wage range: $1.61 - $ 11.00 per hour (based on the work done during a semi-annual performance measurement assessment)

Minimum Wage Jobs

Examples: Miscellaneous in-center work, Washing Dishes in-center, Working at SICK, Inc., St Thomas University, and Smith Medical

Wage range: $10.00 per hour ($12.25 per hour if a job is in Minneapolis)
